Action for Prisoners Families
The national federation of services supporting families of prisoners. Action for Prisoners' Families promotes the just treatment of prisoners' families by the prison system and society across the UK. It encourages the development of, and acts as a voice for, organisations providing support to these families.
Centre for Crime and Justice Studies
CCJS promotes the exchange of knowledge, experience and understanding of criminal justice bring together practitioners, policy makers and academics through a programme of conferences, courses, seminars, study visits and publications. Publishes CJM magazine quarterly.

The Howard League web site provides details of their work, reports, briefing papers and fact sheets, press releases and forthcoming publications.
National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders
NACRO provides information for prisoners and their families. Tel 020 7582 6500. (Open office hours). Nacro's vision is a safer society where everyone belongs, human rights are respected and preventing crime means tackling social exclusion and re-integrating those who offend.

Prisons Ombudsman
The Prisons Ombudsman exists to provide an independent investigation of prisoners' grievances if dissatisfied with the results of their submission within the request and complaints procedure. The Ombudsman cannot take complaints from the families of prisoners.
Scottish Prison Service
